Walter ‘Geronimo’ Fisher (1939-2004) was a self-taught sculptor known for his intricate creations from materials such as wood, marble, granite, diverse metals, fiber, and horn. Many of his masterpieces are featured in private collections throughout the U.S. and Canada. Beyond his artistic talents, Fisher held a Ph.D. in American history, art, and architecture from Wayne State University, Detroit. He served as a history professor at the same institution in the early ’70s. Yet, in 1973, Fisher transitioned from academia to fully dedicate himself to art, subsequently gaining recognition in the Detroit/Toronto art community. By 1981, he had relocated to New York City.
