Large Feather Sculpture. Bleached and hand-carved English oak burl with sterling silver and ebonized ash base.

Acquired by the Michener Museum of Art in 2021 for their permanent collection

Custom commission available

“Offering took nearly six months to hand-carve from English Oak burl. I allowed the form to be dictated in-part by integrating the natural exterior edge of the tree along one entire side of the sculpture. In the end, it was bleached by extracting the tannins and is held upright by a sterling sliver stanchion on an ebonized ash wood base. It is my offering – which is not an exaltation of the magnificent, but a quiet uplifting of the mundane.” – Miriam Carpenter
