“Remember the Times” is a totemic, obelisk-like form which functions as a clock. In style, the work is a simultaneously primitive and futuristic take on a grandfather clock. Additionally, the totem features stylized Gregg shorthand, a phonetic-based shorthand script which depicts the sounds of speech rather than its spelling.
“One hallmark of Peter Pierobon’s work is the incorporation of coded messages within his pieces, ranging from Gregg shorthand, Hobo scratchings, Sign Language and Nordic Runes, each imbued with personal or thematic significance. Collaborating closely with clients or infusing his own philosophical musings, Pierobon elevates his creations beyond mere functionality, embedding them with layers of meaning and introspection.” – Anthony Matthews, Curator
