American studio craft master and educator Alphonse Mattia’s “The Good Sister”.
A playful take on a high back chair, the work’s back rest takes on the form of a Catholic nun in full habit, complete with a veil head piece.
Additionally, a rosary is suggested via a line of circular cutouts running down the backrest of the chair into the seat where there is also a cutout in the shape of a cross.
The work’s seat also features a ruffled effect suggesting the drapery of the nun’s habit.
