About Albert Hoffmann Jr.

Born in Manhattan in 1915, Arnold Hoffmann Jr. was a distinguished artist and master printmaker. He pursued his studies at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League. Throughout his career, Hoffmann held positions as art director at Dell Publishing, the World Telegram, and The New York Times, where he designed the Sunday Magazine and other supplements. In 1972, he founded the Screen Print Workshop in East Hampton, collaborating with and mentoring artists such as James Brooks, Esteban Vicente, Roy Nicholson, Robert Gwathmey, Jimmy Ernst, Robert Dash, Priscilla Bowden, and Tino Nivola. His works are featured in major museums and private collections. Hoffmann resided on Long Island until his passing in 1991.

Exhibitions and Legacy

Hoffmann’s contributions to printmaking were celebrated in a solo exhibition titled “Silkscreen—Arnold Hoffmann Jr. and the Art of the Print,” curated by Helen A. Harrison, director of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center in East Hampton. This exhibition underscored his influence and dedication to the art of printmaking.
