Hanna Silver specialized in crafting tapestries that incorporate a diverse range of threads and yarns, using appliqués to create intricate wall-hangings. Her stitching approach was free-form and unconstrained by traditional patterns, allowing the design to unfold naturally as she worked. Drawing inspiration from sources such as abstract concepts, nature, and daily life, Silver’s chief aim was to achieve harmony by integrating composition, color, and texture. As the work progressed, the tapestry took shape, resulting in a beautiful, cohesive piece. She calls this “creative stitchery”.
