Graham Marks, a celebrated ceramist born in New York City in 1951, has been a leading figure in contemporary ceramics since beginning his artistic journey in 1968. Renowned for his large-scale earthenware creations, Marks’ works have been showcased and collected internationally.

About Graham Marks

Marks earned his BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art in 1974, studying under distinguished ceramicists including William Daley, Edward Eberle, Wayne Bates, and Petras Vaskys. He continued his education at the New York State College of Ceramics, earning an MFA in 1976, where he trained with influential figures like Robert Turner, Ted Randall, Val Cushing, and Wayne Higby.

In addition to his artistic achievements, Marks has made a significant impact as an educator. He taught at Kansas State University (1976–1978) and the Rochester Institute of Technology (1980–1986). From 1986 to 1992, he served as the Head of the Ceramics Department and Artist in Residence at the esteemed Cranbrook Academy of Art, leaving an indelible mark on the next generation of ceramic artists.
