Ceramic

Thrown from the inside, avoiding contact with the outer surface. This method preserves the natural exterior texture of the clay, creating unique textures that imitate the constantly changing surface of the earth. Just like the pot itself.

‘Sometimes I want this world to grow to a size larger than the clay itself can support. My clay stretches, creating the textures. If it becomes too thin or too soft, the whole world collapses in on itself under the weight of its own problems. But when everything works as it should, the techniques that I have developed over the years create new forms and new textures.’ Kyoko Tonegawa
