James Evanson, an American artist, architect, and furniture designer born in 1946, has been a pioneering figure in the global “functional art” movement. Based in New York and Santa Fe, his work gained attention after his debut exhibition in 1979 at New York’s Art et Industrie Gallery.
He created new pieces for the Memphis Collection in Milan, including his acclaimed “Lighthouse” lamps, which became an icon of 1980s design.
His “Comet Club” barstool was recognized by the ID Annual Design Review. Recently, Evanson’s work has focused on exploring the aesthetics of kiln-formed glass.
This set of chairs is a similar inspiration to those barstools.
