A highly intricate desk by studio craft master Michael Hurwitz. The work in comprised of linear and sweeping, curved lines and crafted utilizing tapered lamination construction techniques. The Curly Ash surfaces of the desk are finished in a rich, warm red-orange Japanese cashew varnish.
The desk’s working surface features an intricate mosaic made from marble, and the front includes a horizontal bank of four drawers. The work also includes a top structure with a row of curved drawers, open shelving, and two recessed lights. Additionally, the pulls on the main and upper drawers are made of forged copper and silver.
Paired with the desk is a matching chair made from highly figured curly ash with a seat and backrest made from formed raw Indian silk saturated with epoxy resin.
