Michael J. Gilmartin (1950-2016) founder of Gilmartin Studio in Atlanta, GA. Celebrated for his woodworking expertise and innovative furniture designs, his most sucessful piece, the “Gilmartin Chair,” has won multiple awards. With a career spanning four decades, Michael’s masterpieces have not only found their place in esteemed institutions like the Brooklyn Museum of Art and Atlanta’s High Museum of Art but are also in private collections across the nation. Born in New York, Michael’s educational accolades include an MBA from SUNY Buffalo and degrees from Chaminade and Binghamton University. He further honed his craft at the Penland School of Crafts.
