A postmodern console by American studio craft master and educator Alphonse Mattia.
The work includes numerous drawers and cabinet features throughout – each deployed in a playful manner on curious angles and in somewhat-deceptive functionalities (drawers appear as cabinets and vice versa).
The work’s form is simultaneously zoomorphic and animatronic – perched upon striding leg forms or wheeled-shock-absorbing struts, the console’s body pieces through the tabletop surface creating a dynamic, functional top storage section.
